2013-2014 Estimated Tuition, Living Expenses, and Other Fees

The following chart indicates how much financial support a student must show for ISSS to issue an updated I-20 or DS-2019 for various situations such as program extensions, change of degree levels, etc.  The listed amount is a combination of tuition, student activity fee, student service fee, student health fee, computer lab fee, living expenses, books, international student fee, and health insurance.  These figures are subject to change.

F-2 and J-2 Dependents

Dependents require adding additional expenses to the amount listed above.  These include additional living expenses ($3200/spouse and $2500/each child) + increased rates of health insurance.

International Student Fee - All students attending who are on a University of Iowa I-20 or DS-2019 are assessed the International Student Fee every semester in which they are registered.  Currently the fee is $70 for each fall and spring semester, and $35 if registered for the summer.  Please note that effective August 26, 2013 the International Student Fee will not be refunded if a student is registered as of the first day of a semester, even if the student later withdraws or changes status.  Currently the fee appears on the second U-Bill of each semester.
